MISSION
Together Building Global Justice and Peace
PROGRAMS
Psychosocial Support: Community-Based Psychosocial Support (CBPS) and Child Art Therapy (CAT) are Psychosocial Support Counselling approaches which integrate psychosocial aspects into intervention responses following an emergency. CBPS & CAT enables trained counsellors and community workers to develop holistic rehabilitation and re-integration plans for the target groups.
Safe Space: Given the sensitivity of the issues affecting PWDs, youth, and women, YGlobal works towards creating safe spaces for these groups. A key element in a safe space is to create an environment for participants to feel safe enough to freely express themselves regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender expression & identity, and physical capacity. YGlobal uses the power of safe space to dismantle deep-rooted discrimination and inequality through young women’s leadership, access to Sexual Health Reproductive Rights development, and Gender equality. One of the tools used in promoting gender equality is Transformative masculinity. Transformative masculinity is a tool for challenging dominant traditional gender norms of what it means to be a man/boy. These dominant norms of how a man/boy should be are harmful to men (cases of suicide) and to women (male/society-perpetuated violence/oppression).
Economic Empowerment: This component provides youth, women, and persons with disabilities with alternative means of livelihood. This will involve mobilization into peacemaker saving and investment groups (PM-SIGs). Members in PM-SIGs receive training on financial literacy entrepreneurship and business development. The PM-SIGs are facilitated to run saving and investment schemes. Start-up kits are provided to PM-SIGs with market-feasible ideas.
Decent work: This allows the youth, and women, not only to acquire skills in creating and finding employment but also educates and promotes decent work that has meaningful gain to the project participants. And promoting the rights of workers, and prevention of sexual harassment & abuse at places of work.
Inclusion: People with disabilities (PWDs) continue to be excluded from vital services such as health care and education, livelihood activities, and programs that address gender-based violence. YGlobal adopts a holistic and inclusive approach to implement a combination of activities that not only target empowering PWDs but also link local Organizations of Persons with Disabilities and Civil Society Organizations working on inclusion with the national initiatives to promote the rights of PWDs.
Peacemaker Groups: The Peacemaker Groups target youth between the ages of 13 to 30 years with the aim of empowering young people who often feel subjected to suppressive structures. Through Peacemaker Groups, youth acquire skills, knowledge, and tools to become right-holders and engage duty-bearers to change systems at different levels of society. This is done through training, campaigns, meetings, radio shows and community outreaches. The Peacemaker Groups are important stakeholders for the advocacy component.
Advocacy and Peacebuilding: Youth from peacemaker groups activities are trained on human rights, conflict mitigation and resolution, Transformative Masculinity, and awareness raising. By doing so, the youth can create campaigns and outreaches in the settlements and in the host communities.
Climate justice
The poor have the least responsibility for climate change but are hit the hardest. Therefore, climate change is a matter of injustice. We work for fair climate policy and green action options. Green transition
Rich countries have the greatest historical responsibility for climate emissions, but it is the world’s poor who experience the consequences most strongly. In this way, climate change is a problem of injustice. We believe that Norway and other rich countries must take their historical responsibility seriously, and ensure a transition from fossil fuels to green energy. This means that we must cut emissions in Norway drastically and immediately. In order to bring about a global adjustment, global cooperation is important and nation states must contribute with ambitious targets for emission reductions. National commitments must be stepped up to ensure that the global temperature rise does not exceed 1.5 degrees. Although the main responsibility for climate and environmental changes lies with authorities, decision-makers and companies, we also encourage individuals to reduce their own consumption and make climate-friendly choices.
Climate adaptation
Climate change is already a fact. Environmental changes such as loss of biological diversity and soil erosion are exacerbated by man-made climate change. In addition to implementing a green transition, we have to adapt to the climate changes that are happening today. This means, among other things, that Norway must help finance climate adaptation measures in countries that are severely affected by climate change.
Injustice and inequality globally are very often gendered. This means that girls and women are treated differently than boys and men. The gender you identify with often has a lot to say about which rights you have and the opportunities you get. We work for equality for all by fighting the basic problems and the reasons behind the inequalities.
YGlobal works to ensure that girls and women are heard in the local community they belong to, and thus have a chance to achieve economic and social independence. We also work to increase young women’s representation in national and international forums.
